Give Time to Seafarers
Shore-leave can be short and the Saint John Seafarers Mission wants seafarers to get the most out of it. One way we do this is to help reduce the errands seafarers run by keeping common items seafarers want on hand. We decided to give these items to seafarers for free rather than selling them. We aren’t just giving seafarers a treat, a clean shave, or a souvenir.
We are giving them time. Time to call home to talk to their families.
You can give seafarers time too. Keeping our shelves filled with snacks and toiletries has no cost for seafarers but does have a cost for us. You can help with this by donating here.

A seafarer is someone who is employed to serve aboard any type of marine vessel. These workers are often at sea for months away from their home and families. When ships dock at Port Saint John, the Saint John Seafares’ Mission provides essential services to support seafarers. These services can be as simple as coming into the Mission centre for a hot cup of coffee or a trip to the mall to restock on some essentials before heading back to sea.
